SALVAGE OF HULL
BATTERED GRAF SPEE URUGUAYAN DECISION (11 a.m.) MONTEVIDEO, Oct. 19. The Uruguayan Government has authorised a private firm to raise the hull of the scuttled German pocket battleship Graf Spee from the bottom of the River Plate to reclaim the ship’s steel. The Graf Spee has been gradually sinking in the mud since the salvage gang removed the superstructure a year ago.
