INCREASES GRANTED
BASIC WAGE RATES AUSTRALIAN STATES (9.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 20. Increases in the basic wage of 3s weekly for Melbourne, 2s for Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth and Is 'for Hobart have been granted and will operate next month. Tic increases have been .granted because of the rise in the cost of living. The new weekly basic wage rates will be: Sydney and Melbourne, £4 17s; Adelaide, £4 13s; Brisbane, and Perth, £4 11s; and Hobart, £4 12s.
