TIMARU MEETING
WIN FOR ALL NIGHT SCOTTISH DALE’S WIN (P.A.) TIMARU, this day, The South Canterbury Jockey Club’s spring meeting was held in fine weather on Saturday before a large attendance. The totnlisator handled 125,675 against 117,548 10s last year.
An inquiry was held into an accident in the Washdyke Trot. The evidence showed that Star Lynn stumbled and fell bringing down Motto. Star Lynn received no interference. Tatterson, the driver of Motto, suffered a broken thumb and also slight head injuries. In a bad smash in the Flying Handicap, Leighnor, Sally Lunn, Stabilise and Egyptian Rose all lost their riders. Leighnor broke a leg and was destroyed.. At an inquiry the finding was that the accident was due to the falling of Leighnor, which was not attributable to careless riding. Concluding results are;— Otaio Hurdles Handicap, of 1150; H- miles. -9-10 Lady Don, 9.0 (Clutterbuek), 1; 1-1 Adina, 10.7 (Walther), 2; 4-3 Norse, 9.2 (Holland), 3. All started. Ellis), 3. All started. Two lengths; a length. Time, 2.43. Tycho Handicap, of 1140; 6 furlongs.—7-7 Fur Coat, 8.2 (Barrington), 1; 4-4 Coy, 8.3 (Anderson), 2; 9-10 Miss Saone, 7.12 (Messervy), 3. Scratched: Hughsotis. Half a head; a length. Time, 1.13j[.
