King’s.—“A Gentleman After Dark.” the dramatic adaptation of Richard Washburn Child’s now famous magazine story, ‘‘A Whiff of Heliotrope,” the Edward Small production concluding to-night at the King's Theatre, can boast of an excellent cast. Three popular stars of the screen share the leading roles, Brian Donlevy, Miriam Hopkins an l Preston Foster. “Maryland,” the successor to "Kentucky” and starring Walter Brennan. Fay Bainter, and Brenda Joyce, begins to-morrow. Regent.—The delightful melodies of Oscar Strauss, the glorious voices of Nelson Eddy and Rise Stevens, and the intriguing plot of the witty play, “The Guardsman” combine to. make refreshing entertainment for music lovers in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s sparkling musical comedy, “The Chocolate Soldier,” which will continue its season until /Thursday. The featurettes include "Strange Testament,” “The Diary of a Polish Pilot," Battle of Madagascar and the sinking of the aircraft carrier Lexington.
Majestic.—A maximum of excitement and laughs, with' pulse-quickeniug “hit” tunes that are perfect for a Western production, are to be found in Gene Autry’s “Down Mexico Way.” This is a picture that will easily return a world of entertainment even to the mo3t critical. The associate feature is Gene Stratton Porter’s story, “Freckles Come 3 Home," with Johnny Downs and Gale Storm. The serial is “Jungle Girl.” '
