SUBMARINE’S VICTIM
SHIP IN ST. LAWRENCE (3 p.m.) OTTAWA, Oct. 15. A submarine torpedoed and sank a / merchantman in a small convoy off Metis Beach, 180 miles upstream from the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. This is the furthest upstream that a submarine has yet ventured. Twelve ■persons are missing, but 18 have been rescued.
