Mr. Grant’s second prize yearling bull, Embassy 11 th of Mangatoro, whoso dam, a New Zealand bred edw, had won numerous prizes and championships, created sensational competition and wits finally sold to tlic East Coast Commissioner . The previous record price of SOOgns. was paid when two years ago Mr. Grant submitted another yearling bred 'in his stud in aid of tip. patriotic funds! In the two-year-old section Embassy oth of Mangatoro, also , a bull of pure imported blood and which had headed his class, realised 280gns..,This bull was also bought by the East Coast Commissioner. Tile top price for two-year-olds, however. was secured by ill - . L. A. I’. Sliorriff. 'l’ailinpe, for Odin of Kowhiwlii. This low set, thick bull was purchased by Mr. Chus. Matthews, Gisborne, at JlOgns. He was placed sixth in an exceptionally big and strong class. His sire is the' notable •young breeding bull, Inculcate‘ of Akitio, while his dam was by a famous siro in Acute of Akitio. The market throughout was exceptionally •strong, many other breeders securing throe figure prices, a total of 9795gn5.,_ being distributed amongst tho 20 ! contributing breeders, at an average of 93Jgns. A number of heifers were also submitted, two [daughters of Air. Grant’s imported sire milking 120 and 1725gns. There was an unsatisfied demand for nil good quality stork.
