The Single Cup road race took place on Wednesday afternoon, the course being arranged by the Wairoa District High School. All competitors started off scratch, and the result was: M. Fraser, 1; F. Simpson, 2; M. Shnw, 3. Time, 17min. 26sec. Wednesday was only the second occasion during 60 years of married life that Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Duley, Wairoa, have had the pleasure of seeing the whole of their family home together, the last occasion being about five years ago. They were assembled this time to be present at the diamond wedding anniversary of their parents. Captain G. Johanßen, who was called home urgently on Tuesday on account of the serious state of his mother's health, returned to camp on Wednesday;—Mr. W. A. Orarer, Wairoa manager for Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Limited, is on annual l eave Mr. and Mrs. E. Krogh, Wairoa, are on a holiday visit to Hastings and Dunnevirke. —Lieutenant R. Ryman is on a short visit to Wairoa.—Advice haß been received by his mother that Private E. M. (“Tim”) McGrath, is a prisoner of war. He is enjoying good health. Among the visitors to- Wniroa for the Duley diamond wedding is Mr. F. Craven, Dannevirke, who was Mr. Duley’s first apprentice over 50 years ago.—QuartermasterSergeant Griffin is spending leave in Wairoa. —Members of the Duley family who are ill Wairoa for the diamond wedding anniversary of their parents are Mrs. J. Lovett, Waipukurau,. and Mrs. H. J. Hayward, Paeroa, Mr. A. T. Dtiley and family, whakatane, Mr. W. H. Duley, Lower Hutt, Mr.- R. Duley and family. National Park, and Staff-Ser-geant R. G. Duley, military forces.—Mr. Martin Paget, Frasertown road, who is a patient at the Wairoa Hospital, is reported to be making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Mr. N. Smith and Miss Pauline Bretherton, who are shortly to be married ill Waii'oa, have been the guests at a number of gift evenings. On Tuesday evening Mr. Smith was the recipient of a chiming clock from fellow-members of Swifts, N.Z., Compuny, Limited. ;
