(1 um ) RUGBY, Oct. 14. ./conference will be held m Lonaon r£xt Friday between the British, Austrian. and New Zealand Governments to discuss the extension of th Empire air training scheme until March 31, 1945. , New Zealand will. be re P res^ te T d by the High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan the Air Secretary, Mr. T. -. . Barrow, and Air Commodore L. - Isitt. ; The Australian Associated Press understands that it is hoped to make substantial progress at the «owe:rence 'to eTear up “two sore points an and the low proportioivof all-Australian crews and allAustralian squadrons.
The New Zealand and Australian air forces are also likely to win the right to appoint personnel liaison officers to all Royal Air Force commands in Britain and abroad. They secure an agreement paralleling tne British and Canadian agreement. Wellinformed circles consider that the most satisfactory system would be one under which the Australian Air Force headquarters in London and also New Zealand liaison officers “policed promotions for their nationals serving With the Royal Air Force and had their own promotion boards to which the men could apply direct, instead Oi. depending on the Royal Air Force machinery. , „ . It is pointed out that some excellent men do not -apply for commissions, for which reason it is desirable that the initiative should be taken by New Zealand or Australian headquarters from Records and. also from reports of personnel officers.
