SMALL SHEEP ENTRY

MATAWHERO STOCK SALE An offering of only 270 store sheep at the Matawhero stock sale to-day made up one of the smallest entries of the year. Ewes in lamb made up nearly half the number, and there was a good demand for the pens containing well framed ewes, the most attractive selling from 29s 7d to 31 3d, while lighter ewes nud lambs reached 265. An attractive fine of well grown ewe hoggetß sold at 31s 4d, the highest price of the season, while the only pen of wether hoggets reached 22s Id. Empty ewes went to 14s for unshorn and 8s 6d for shorn. Ewes with Lambs. —Twenty-one well framed 4-tooth to 5-year ewes, unshorn. 22 well grown lambs, 30s; 35 well framed ewes, unshorn. 36 lambs, younger than last. 29s 7d; 15 fair framed ewes, unshorn, 16 fair sized lambs, one ewe yet to lamb, 2Gs; 33 well framed ewes, unshorn, 38 lambs, mixed iti size, 3!s 3d; 23 fairly well framed ewes, unshorn. 23 well grown lambs, 30s 3d. Ewe Hoggets.—Forty-one. woolly, well grown, good order, 31s 4d: 10, woolly, fairly well grown, good order, 255. Wether Hoggots.—Thirteen, woolly, fairly well grown, good order. 22s Id. Empty li»cs. —Fourteen, fair frames, store order, lightly .woolled', 7s Gd; 31, woolley. well framed, good order, 14s; S. shorn, fairly well framed, store order, Ss Gd. Large Mutton Yarding The mutton ynTding was a fairly large one of 300 head, and values were lower by about Is Gd a head. Unshorn ewes sold to 25s and shorn to 16s, with woolly wether hoggets at 23s 9d. The beef entry was small. Two light Hereford heifers brought £G 15s and Jersey cows sold to £4 18s and £5 10s. I’ig Market The market for pigs remained dull, with frequent passings. Weaners sold from 24s Gd to 275. four heavy porkers at £2 15s. with four good stores making an excellent sale at £2 10s.
