Vice on the market. 854 POVERTY BAY TRANSPORT CONTROL COMMITTEE. IN THE MATTER of “The Transport Control Emergency Regulations 1942.’ As from 19th October, 1942, the following provisions will -apply to - the transport of stock and wool by motor vehicles in the area subject to the control of the Committee. 1. FAT LAMBS: All fat lambs within live (5) miles of Works must be driven. All fat lambs north of Kaiteratahi Hill and Within five (5) miles of train must be driven to train.' If over five (5) miles from train may be lorried to train. 2. FAT SHEEP: All fat sheep must be driven to works, saleyards or rail. EXCEPTIONS: (a) Small numbers of big fat sheep not exceeding 20 required to complete a lorry load of lambs may be carried by lorry. (b) At discretion of Committee when condition of ewes is such that they cannot walk, approval may be given for transport by motor vehicle. (c) Ewes with lambs at foot (up to six weeks of age only) may be lorried without restriction. 3. STORE LAMBS: (a) If within nine (9) miles of saleyards must be driven. (b) If north of Kaiteratahi Hill and within nine (9) miles of rail must be driven’ to rail. (c) If purchased privately on 1 the farm the sam'e provision shall apply—namely that the purchaser cannot lorry lambs if they are within nine (9) miles of immediate destination of lambs or (if north of Kaiteratahi Hill) within nine (9) miles of rail. ■ (d) A farmer’s own lambs being moved from farm to farm to be subject to the same conditions, (e) Lambs from saleyards or rail may be lorried only when the destination is five (5) miles or over from pick-up point. 4. RAMS: Rams may be lorried to or from the nearest Ram Fair or to or from the nearest rail. Stud breeders may transport stud rams from farm to farm where their movement does not conflict with the foregoing directions. 5. CATTLE: All cattle must be driven to works, saleyards or rail. " 6. BULLS: Bulls (other than potters) may be lorried to or from a bull fair or a sale or nearest rail. 7. PIGS and BOBBY CALVES: Pigs and Bobby Calves may be lorried, PROVIDED HOWEVER that in the absence of a metal road to a suitable loading place aI.L calves and pigs to be penned for loading at the roadside. 8. GENERAL: In all eases where stock is carried by motor lorry only full loads may be carried except with consent of freezing, works. 9. DEFINITION of sheep and lambs. All young sheep to .be classified as grown sheep after 31st July in each year. Decision in respect of live stock to .be operative during months of November, December, 1942, and January, 1943. 101 WOOL: Only full loads of wool may be carried on lorry. All wool • from Te Karaka northwards must be lorried to rail at nearest loading place. , . EXCEPTIONS: With the consent of the Committee a part load may be lorried to clean up a shed at termination of wet shearing. 11.
