CAPTIVES IN CHAINS
GERMANY’S REACTION REPLY TO MR. CHURCHILL (11 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 14. The Berlin l-adio, commenting on the statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. Winston Churchill, in the House of Commons on the chaining of prisoners, says: “Mr. Churchill does not strengthen his case by stating that from time to time, under, pressure of circumstances and in their own interests, it has been found necessary to bind prisoners. It is extremely difficult to persuade any prisoner of war that it is in his own interest to be bound. However, it does not matter whether the British Government endorsed the orders regarding the tying of prisoners or not. What matters is only whether Britain is prepared to cancel the order regarding the chaining of German prisoners.” /
