BRAZILIAN NAVY
EXTENSIVE ADDITIONS CO-OPERATION WITH U.S. (11 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 13. The Secretary of the United States Navy Colonel F. Knox told the press that considerable additions to the Brazilian fleet are now on the ways at Rio de Janeiro and are nearly ready to go to sea. These will make a material addition to the naval patrols against submarines. He cited this as an instance of 100 per cent co-operation of the Brazilian armed forces. ■ -.
Colonel Knox said that a large part of the activity in the Brazilian area is by air and is critically important. The Brazilian people are extremely cordial to the United States and are overwhelmingly in favour of the Brazilian administration in its war measures.
