LONG ILLNESS ENDED
SIR R. ANDERSON DEAD (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, this day. The death Of Sir Robert Anderson, C.M.G., occurred to-day after a lengthy illness. Sir Robert was one of the best-known business men of the South Island, being managing director of J. G. Ward and Company, Limited, Invercargill. He was born in Queenstown in 1860, and was a son of Mr. Robert Anderson, of Glasgow, who'arrived in New Zealand in 1862, and commenced business in Frankton. He joined the late Sir Joseph Ward as accountant, and formed the business'of J. G. Ward and Company, Limited. Jle was appointed a director of the Bank of New Zealand in August, 1330, in succession to the late Mr. WiJJiam Reece, of Christchurch, and at various times was on the directorates of a hunibet’ of companies, while he also served'on several local bodies, "
