BREWERIES IN AUSTRALIA SYDNEY, Oct. 3. Nationalisation of breweries was urged bv Mr. Landa. Labour membei for Bondi, in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. “If this Government dees not do it,7 he declared, “the Federal Government should be asked to act under the national security regulations.” Mr. Landa said that the breweries were not only makers of beer —“and in this State bad. beer”—but they were also hotel-owners and financiers Breweries had enjoyed their privileges too long. They were even exempted from the provisions of the Money Lenders Act. The Federal Government had made enough complaints about the liquor problem. Now they had the opportunity to nationalise it and control it. as was done in Canada. .
