BRITISH FORCES’ LANDINiQ ISLAND NORTH OF CRETE (British Official Wireless.) (11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, Aug. 30. Nothing is known in authoritative circles in London of an Italian report that a small British force landed on Kythera Island, north-west of. Crete, on Thursday. Such a force may have landed, but is is considered the operation would be of relatively minor importance. An Italian communique says that on Friday a small enemy unit attempted to land on the island of Cerigotto, between Kythera and Crete, but. fled on the intervention of the defences.
