This Week’s Rain
This week’s rain should do much to alleviate some of the anxiety Gisborne district farmers had of the coming months, for besides being thje mildest winter for many years it was also one of the driest. Streams and wells were at their lowest winter levels for a Very long time, and many.' in tact, were low even ip comparison with summer conditions. The past three days have contributed 3.52 in.. according to the Darton Field reading, to pping the month’s tptgl to 4.75 in., or exactly half an inch above the August average. At the signal station, W e dnesday‘s rainfall was considerably heavier than at Darton Field, and the total for the days was 4.91 m,
