RISKS REDUCED

AMERICAN SHIPPING CHEAPER INSURANCE FAVOURABLE FACTORS (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (2.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 28. The Marine Underwriters’ Association has announced a 5 per cent decrease in cargo war risk rates on all routes previously affected by the increase on August 13. Shipments via Panama between Australia and New Zealand, and United States and Canadian Atlantic ports are reduced to the former 20 per cent rate, while the trans-Paeific 71 per cent rate is maintained. The announcement said that Brazil’s declaration of war was expected to reduce war risk hazards. The Journal of Commerce ascribed the change also to the increasingly effective anti-submarine measures.
