INQUIRY DEMANDED
BAN ON RECORDINGS AMERICAN MUSICIANS (9.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON,Aug. 28 Senator Clark demanded a Senate investigation of Mr. James Petrillo’s order forbidding members of the American Federation of Musicians to play for recordings and transcriptions. He said that Mr. Petrillo had adopted gangster tactics. Senator Clark added that the union leader’s ultimatum which was issued on June 25 would deprive millions of radio listeners from hearing musical records, jeopardise national morale and imperil the existence of 100 small radio stations which were unable to afford station orchestras.
