OCCUPIED TERRITORY OWN LANGUAGE ORDERED (10.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 28. The Berne correspondent of the New York Times says that a Tok.io despatch to the Frankfurter Zeitung discloses that the Japanese authorities are pressing for the abolition of the English language in the occupied >,,, areas, including the Philippines, and its replacement by Japanese which ■ has been proclaimed the obligatory i . official language. To facilitate the process the Japanese language grammar will be reformed by reducing the number of letters and also adopting a uniform system of writing from left to right.
