OFFICERS PROMOTED APPOINTMENTS POSTED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. included among the appointments and promotions of officers of the New Zealand military forces, gazetted last night, are the following:— Staff Appointments.—Major G. R. Rowbotham, Royal Artillery is appointed to command an anti-aircraft brigade with the local rank of colonel; Lieutenant-Colonel V. A. Young, M.C., Royal Artillery, is appointed to a com-

mand in the southern military district, with the rank of colonel; Major E. L’E. Davies, Royal Artillery, is appointed to command an anti-aircraft brigade, with the local rank of colonel; Major H. E. Fernyhough, Royal Artillery, is appointed commandant of the New Zealand Staff College, with the local rank of colonel.

Second New Zealand Expeditionary: Force Appointments. —Brigadier K. MacCormick, C.8.E., D. 5.0., is appointed Director of Medical Services; Major R. L. C. Grant is to be second in command of a divisional signals unit; Major S. J. Hedge is to be deputy assistant Q.M.G. of the base camp; Major C. G. Pryor is to command a signal school; Temporary Major I. A. Hart is to be second in command of the infantry training depot; Lieutenant-Colonel J. N. Peart is to command a battalion; Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel C. N. Watson, M.C., is to command an advance base; Major J. F. R. Sprosen is to command a field regiment; Major L. B. Ballantyne is to command the composite, training depot; Major H. E. Crosse, M.C., is to command the reception depot; Major E. F. Walden is to command the infantry training depot; Major E. T. Kensington is to command a field regiment; Major L. N. McKay is to command the artillery training depot; Major I. O. Manson is to command a battalion; Lieutenant-Colonel P. A. Arclagh, D. 5.0., M.C., is to be assistant director of medical services; Major J. S. King, M.8.E., is appointed a general staff officer, first grade of the base camp; Major D. E. Harper is to command the engineer and ordnance depot; Lieutenant-Colonel L. J. Hunter is to command a casualty clearing station; Temporary Lieuten-ant-Colonel C. M. Williamson is to command a base camp ; Major B. Barrington is to be deputy assistant Q. , .New Zealand Division; Lieu-tenant-Colonel D. T. Maxwell is to be colonel; Mr. W. G. Tweedy, M.8.E., to be New Zealand Red Cross Commissioner in the Middle East with the honorary rank of Major; LieutenantColonel F. Prideaux is to be colonel; Major J. S.
