AMERICAN LEAFLETS

DROPPED OVER FRANCE DISTRIBUTION BY R.A.F. (Reed. Jan. 12, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 11. Further 'details of the dropping ol American leaflets over occupied France, stressing the historic friendship between' French and American peoples, are given by the Air Mini*try news service. On Wednesday night the Royal Air Force delivered their message. Among those who took part in this leaflet raid was a Whitley crew with a record experience or leaflet dropping. They were in the first leaflet raid on the first night of the war. Though there was no anti-aircraft gunfire, the pilots flew their bombers as though they were taking evasive action. In this way the leaflets would be better distributed. The dropping of leaflets is not a simple matter. It means elaborate calculations which take into account the speed and direction of wind. One crew released 360,000 leaflets in 22 minutes—considered a most efficient piece of work.
