The Senate, in rejecting President Roosevelt’s personal appeal, adopted an amendment to the Price Control Bill granting the Secretary of Agriculture, Mr. C. R. Wickard, power of veto -wer the war-time farm price ceilings. This is the President's first defeat in Congress since the United States entered the war and was administered by the powerful farm bloc.
