RUSSIAN UNIONISTS
WELCOME AT CARDIFF UNITY OF PURPOSE (Reed. Jan. 12, 9 a.m.) , LONDON, Jan. 11. When the Russian trade union delegation arrived at Cardiff to-day to attend the Labour conference, representing some 300,000 workers of Wales, they received a warm welcome from a large crowd. Many of the crowd were carrying Union Jacks and Red flagSr while others held streamers bearing greetings to the visitors. The delegates later received a civic reception at the City Hall. The Russian spokesman addressed the conference, which was attended by 400 delegates of the South Wales regional Council of Labour, and a motion was passed on behalf of 300,000 trade unionists pledging untiring efforts to speed up war production. The resolution welcomed the evidence of solidarity and unity of purpose expressed in the Washington and Moscow conferences, and declared: “In this spirit of unity and mutual understanding lies an assurance of continuing association in the post-war task of renewing the economic life of the world on a foundation of social justice.”
