Infectious Diseases
Six cases of infectious disease were notified in the East Cape health district during the past week to headquarters in Gisborne. Two were of tuberculosis and there was one each of tetanus, para typhoid, puerperal fever and ophthalmia.
Pumpkins and Trenches Residents in one of the Auckland suburbs are combining vegetable growing with the trench excavations for air raid protection. One man was struck with the possibilities of cultivating pumpkins on the mounds of soil and seeds which he scattered liberally have struck and grown into healtfiy plants. His idea has been emulated with success by other residents.
