SECRET ORDERS

SEIZURE OF ST. PIERRE DISCUSSED IN OTTAWA (Reed. Jan. 10, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 9. Admiral Muselier declared in St. Pierre that he had seized St. Pierre and Miquelon upon secret imperative orders from General de Gaulle, after discussing the occupation of the islands with Canadian officials and the United £tates Minister at Ottawa, but without their consent. He added that two of three corvettes partaking in the seizure had been returned to convoy duty in the Atlantic.

Baron Debournat, the Vichy Administrator of the islands, and his wife are still in the custody of the Free French aboard a tug in the harbour.
