DEATH OF PATIENT

TWO NURSES BLAMED LONDON, Nov. 24. Two probationer nurses . at St. Stephen’s Hospital, Chelsea, were blamed equally by the coroner, Mr. Neville Stafford, for the death of a patient, Mrs. Fanny Treadwell, aged 77. She died from shock, due to scalded legs, when Mary Hefferman, one of the young nurses, put her into a bath which was too hot. The other nurse, Therese Marie Freund, said she tested the water at the head of the bath but not at the foot. “I forgot to mix the water,” she admitted. A verdict of death by misadventure was recorded.
