ARMY QUARTERS
ORGANISATION PROBLEM SCHOOLS MAY BE USED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Tjie c(?ming mobilisation of 27.000 additional men raises big problems of organisation with which the army is now actively dealing. One of the most important is that of accommodation. Some secondary school buildings in the Wellington district and elsewhere have been in use for military purposes since the end of the last school year, and there is a likelihood of a greater utilisation of this class of public building for the accommodation of troops. It seems almost certain that in many instances the school holidays will have to be extended, but this possibility is not viewed by educationalists with great _ concern as they recall that during various epidemics—principally the infantile paralysis epidemic—schools have had to be closed to the end of February, and sometimes to the end of March, and they express the opinion that the standard of education has not been appreciably affected.
It is pointed out also that greater use Can he made of the correspondence school for instruction.
