CLOUDBURST IN RIO HOUSES SWEPT TO SEA (Reed. Jan. 9, 10.30 a.m.) RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 8. Twenty-eight persons are dead and scores were hurt here as a result of a cloudburst. The storm was the worst for 40 years and lasted 10 hours. It disrupted telephone and lighting facilities, and caused buildings to collapse. Floods in the streets swept waterfront dwellings into the sea.
