‘INTERMEZZO,, A LOVE STORY”: FINE PRODUCTION Leslie Howard, Ingrid .Bergman and Edna. Best are the starring trio, in David O. S.eiznick’s new romantic drama, “Intermezzo, a Love Story,' now showing at the King's Theatre. “Intermezzo, a Love . Story” is a drama about a great violinist, who..in remembering his youth and . the happy days when he.was first married, believes that he has fallen in love again with a younger and more, beautiful woman. Her persuades her to become his accompanist on a triumphant concert tour, leaving his family behind while he . and his .sweetheart travel ail .over. Europe. After months of .gay and exciting living in all the capitals of the continent, the., pair suddenly realise that they cannot go on drifting through life. How they solve their problem and the girl’s course of action provide a thrilling and poignant climax. —“Ask a Policeman” and “Winter Carnival”: Tuesday— The- ..\vell-.known .British comedian, Will Hay,, ably hindered by Moore Marriott" and. Graham . Moffatt, has blundered through, many, public services. In. the G.B.D. attraction, “Ask a Policeman,” which will be pregenteo at the King’s Theatre on Tuesday, the three do their best to ruin the local rural constabulary, and here they make an hilarious digression into what they imagine to be the realm ol the supernatural. As members of the police force in. a village that has had no crime for ten years five weeks and [our days, they are faced with the necessity to justify their by no means miserable existence, and to do this they endeavour blissfully unconscious of "the faef. that the village is a hotbed of smuggling, to create an artificial “crime wave.” They soon find that there is a real one in full swing. The outcome is screamingly funny and is undoubtedly the funniest Will Hay picture to dale. The associate feature, “Winter Carnival,” starring Ann Sheridan, is a sparkling romantic comedy set against the colourful background of the world famous Dartmouth iceskating carnival. It is a fine film.
