TRAINED FINN AIRMEN AWAIT PLANES INITIATIVE IN ATTACK INDICATED (Elec. Tel. Copyright.—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Dee. 30, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 29. Messages from Helsinki state that the first night air raid on the capital occurred at midnight. People ran for shelter. Two explosions were heard. It is reported that the Finnish “suicide company,” breaking through from. Sulla, destroyed a part of the Murmansk-Lcningrad railway. The Finns are reported to have pushed the Russians back across the frontier at a new point north of Pielesjarvi. It is reported that 40 English and 20 Italian aircraft are embodied in the Finnish Air Force. One thousand trained airmen are waiting to take over the delivery of the aeroplanes from England and America. The initiative by the Finnish airmen is indicated by the bombing of the lighthouse of Baindlo, Russia’s naval base. A battalion of 800 women, mostly Leningrad and Moscow factory hands, is reported to have arrived at Murmansk. A message from Bergen states that the aid-for-Finland sentiment is growing in Norway where private funds for aid total £222,000, apart from the augmentation of the national defence. ' d ..
