CLOSING STAGES

TENNIS TOURNAMENT FINALS THIS AFTERNOON SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS WOMEN AND MEN It was expected that the closing stages of the Poverty Bay and East Coast Lawn Tennis Association’s tournament would be entered upon early this afternoon. Both semi-finals in the women s championship singles had been completed before noon to-day, and an immediate start was to be made with the final between Misses E. Reeves and Karauti, while the men’s championship singles final was to follow shortly afterwards. In the men s championships, Heremia had qualified for the final, but the other semi-final had yet to be played. . . The girls’ and boys’ championship singles also were nearing the final stages. O. Hansen and B. Graham were the only two left in the division by noon to-day. The boys doubles were nearly ended. The handicap section was not so well forward, but it was hoped that little would be left to complete after to-day’s Dlay was concluded.
