LATE SPORTING
FINAL GALLOPS HASTINGS TRACK MIMICRY’S BEST “SIX" IMPROVED BY RACE (Special to tho Herald.) HASTINGS, this day. As the result of the rain this week the tracks were in perfect order at Hastings yesterday morning for the final gallops for horses engaged on the -opening day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s summer meeting tomorrow. Hunter's Eve dashed over three furlongs in 36 sec. Classical was not unduly bustled to run her three in 39 3-ssec. Nora Gregor who is in capital order for to-morrow, ran a good five furlongs in 1.3. Inheritance slipped over three furlongs in 36 4-ssec. Lady Chat Weil
The Amalgamation Hack Cup winner Lady Chat hit out freely in a working gallop over seven furlongs in 1.35, the last three in 40see.
Sternchasc did not appear to be fully stretched out in covering his five furlongs in 1.3 3-5. Black Out ran home nicely from the two furlongs in 25sec. Hunting Moments appeared to be doing slightly better than Okawa over once round in 1.45, the final six furlongs in 1.18. Dainty Sheila, who was under restraint, came home her last three furlongs in 42 3-ssec. Silver Bat was going very easily alongside Golden Melody over five furlongs in 1.5, the last three furlongs in 39sec. Royal Star II held Royal Spades over a good six furlongs in 1.17 2-5. He seemed to have a lot in halid. The best figures of the morning for six furlongs were those of Mimicry, who recorded 1.16 2-5, the first three furlongs in 37sec. He should be improved by his race on Monday. Kobi Scratched Kobi was scratched at 11.15 a.m. yesterday for the Havelock Handicap at the meeting.
