PLANES OVER THAMES RUMOURS DENIED (Reed. Dec. 29, .11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 28. It was yesterday reported that enemy planes had been sighted over the Thames estuary and the Suffolk coast in the afternoon, but no warnings were sounded and no gunfire was heard. The Air Ministry announced late last night, however, that the reports to the. effect that German aircraft made an extensive reconnaissance over the Thames estuary were without foundation. It was explained that Royal Air Force Fighter Command patrols were active in the area during the morning, and it was possible that ground observers mistook one of these aircraft lor an enemy raider.
