FAREWELL SERVICE

CHAPLIN TO THE FORCES (Herald Correspondent.) Divine service was held in the Nuhaka Anglican Church on Christmas Day, there being a very good congregation of both Europeans and Maoris. The service was conducted by the Rev. Claud Hyde. Wairoa, assisted by the Rev. Wi Moana, Nuhaka, and Mr. P. Poliapu, Wairoa.

A farewell message of “Peace on i Earth" was delivered by Mr. Hyde, I who, as a chaplin to the military, [forces, will.be leaving for overseas shortly. The congregation was j touched by his appeal for peace on ! earlh. and goodwill towards all men. 1 At Iho end of the service Mr. ; Hyde was the recipient of a set of I military hairbrushes from the Ladies' ! Guild and committee of Ihe church.
