In the past two days of the provincial tournament at Seddon Park, Hamilton, rain has delayed the start of play. The Poverty Bay representative eleven was beaten on the first innings by both Auckland City and Suburban and Auckland B. The wickets were affected by the adverse conditions and no teams were able to give their best performances.

On Tuesday Poverty Bay was matched against Auckland City and Suburban. In its first innings the Bay was dismissed for 95 runs, G. H. Stewart 32, J. K, Somervell 18, and E. F. James 13 being the most successful batsmen. Hood captured eight wickets for 37 runs. City and Suburban replied with a knock of 121 for the loss of three wickets. H. Lee took two wickets for 15 runs and P. H. Dow one for 20. It was a first innings victory for the city team. The match between Auckland B and Waikato resulted in a draw. Despite losing four wickets for 42 runs, Waikato made 122 for eight wickets before declaring, J. Everest 40, Laurie 29, Lissetts 22, being the principal scorers. Auckland B had lost three wickets for 85 runs when stumps were drawn, Cleal being 32 not out and McMahon 10 not out.

Rain again caused a late start in the matches yesterday, when Poverty Bay faced Auckland B and declared with seven wickets down for 30 runs.
