BOXING DAY RACES DOMINION MEETINGS RISE AT ELLERSLIE Total isa tor investments at racing and trotting meetings in New Zealand on Tuesday showed only two increases, at the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting at Ellerslie. and at the Waipukurau Racing Club's meeting in Hastings, on' the figures for Boxing Day meetings last year. A total fall in receipts of nearly .Cl-100 was recorded. The total receipts of the six racing clubs and three trotting clubs which held meetings on Tuesday was £‘289.181. the returns from the corresponding meetings last year being £290.579 10s. The returns of racing clubs this year were £238,860 10s and those of trotting clubs £50,320 10s. The Two Increases At the Auckland Racing Club’s meeting, where an attendance of 39.500 compared with last year’s Boxing Day figure of 38.500, investments amounted to £131,054, an increase of £16.928 :10s. The only other course where an increase was registered was in Hastings, where the turnover at the Waipukurau Racing Club’s meeting rose by £3229. The largest decrease was at the Ashburton Trotting Club's meeting, where showery conditions contributed to a fall of £12,773 10s. The Manawatu Racing Club’s receipts fell by £1269 10s and those of the Taranaki Jockey Club by £1483. A slight fall was recorded at the Dunedin Jockey Club meeting. The Westland Racing Club’s return was £3,133 less than that of the corresponding day last year. At this meeting seven races were run yesterday, compared with eight last year. The aggregate amount invested during the 11 months ended in November was £7,324,095, a substantial increase over the figure for the corresponding period last year, £6,545,632.
