(Herald Correspondent.) Mr. J. M. Meilan, headmaster of the Manutahi School, is now on the road to recovery after an illness which necessitated a lengthy stay away from the Coaset. Mr. Meffan is convalescing at his home in Ruatoria. Private W. Maxwell, Trentham camp, is spending his leave at his home at Cape Runaway—Mrs. L, G. Michaels, Whangarei, accompanied by her son and daughter, John and Noeleen, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Clarke, Hicks Bay.—Miss Ray Fairlie, who is studying singing and music at Auckland, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Fairlie, “Rau?.wa,” Te Araroa; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Williamson, Hicks Bay, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Wood, Lotin Point, for the Christmas week. —Private Jack Hough, Trentham camp, has been spending his leave with friends in Te Araroa. —Sapper W. J. McLachan, Papakura camp, has been spending his leave with his father, Mr. O. J. McLachan, Te Araroa.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Moody, Gisborne, accompanied by their daughter. Miss N. Moody, have taken up residence in Te Puia.

May, Fred Rawson and Mr. and Mrs. Chiplin were Ruatoria visitors to Waihau Bay for Christmas.
