MAYOR DISGUSTED

Wairarapa men who enlisted in the First Echelon were given a civil farewell in Masterton on Friday night. The Mayor, Mr. Jordan, presided over a gathering which included the M.P,s for Wairarapa and Masterton, and most of the local bodies in the district were represented. Mr. Jordan said that he was disgusted with the attendance of the Masterton public at the farewell. “The Opera Hbuse was not much more than halt full,” Mr. Jordan said, “but the picture theatres appeared to be well patronised.”
