RESCUER WARNED OFF
THREAT FROM U-BOAT TORPEDOED DANISH SHIP SAVING LIFE BARRED (Reccl. Dec. 27, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 25. Fuller information is now available regarding the torpedoing of the Danish vessel Scotia, of 2400 tons, on December 7.
It is learned on reliable authority that the Danish steamship Hafaia, which went to her rescue and was attempting to pick up survivors, was prevented from doing so by the Germans, who hailed the Hafaia from their submarine, which had come up in the darkness, and ordered them to steam away and not to attempt any rescues under the threat of also being torpedoed.
