Mr. J. M. Ranstead, Matangi, Waikato, has been appointed a member of the advisory council of scientific and industrial research.

The Rev. E. Chard, of Perth, Australia, has been appointed assistant priest at St. Peter's Cathedral, Hamilton.

The Hon. W. Wise, Director of Public Works in Fiji, and Mrs. Wise have arrived at Auckland. They intend to spend some months in touring the Dominion.
