MAIN BODY MEN
DEPARTURE THURSDAY 2 A.M. PUBLIC FAREWELL BIG MUSTER OF VETERANS To-morrow will be the last full day of final leave for the men of the First Echelon, who return to their respective camps before the week-end and who leave New Zealand early next month for overseas. The men now enjoying final leave in Gisborne will depart from Peel street at 2 o’clock on Thursday morning, and a public farewell function has been planned by the Provincial Patriotic Council, in conjunction with local authorities.
It is hoped that the assembly of the public will be worthy of the occasion, despite the inconvenient hour at which the men depart. The Gisborne Returned Soldiers’ Association has done what it can to ensure a large attendance by calling on all its members within reasonable distance of town to join in the muster.
