DEESPERATELY IN NEED

PITCAIRN ISLANDERS EVACUATION PROBABLE (Reed. Dec. 2G. 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 25. The Federal Minister of External Affairs, Mr. J. A. Perkins, received information through a tramp steamer that the Pitcairn Islanders are desperately in need of fdod, only one ship having passed the island within siv months.

Mr. Perkins is now conferring with the British authorities, and it is expected that a decision will be reached to evqcuate them for the second time in the history of the island.
