DECISIVE MARGIN

AIRCRAFT PRODUCTION HUGE ALLIED ORDERS AMERICAN PURCHASES U.S. NAVY CONTRACT (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Dec. 26, 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 25. The expected doubling of the AngloFrench purchases of American planes is regarded as giving a decisive margin in the production race. Germany has not expanded her production. Indusiry here is capable of producing 1000 planes a month. The effect of the huge Allied orders puts American designers in direct competition with German craftsmen. Both British and American fighter planes are acclaimed to be superior to the newest German types. The American Navy has ordered a fleet of long-range four-engined flying boats to patrol the 'Pacific line of observation and reinforce the Administration’s Western Hemisphere defence policies,

It is authoritatively stated that over 50 aircraft with a range of over 5000 miles are involved in this £5,000,00u order, which is the largest single aircraft contract in the Navy’s history, and will augment 15 aircraft of a similar type ordered last'year.
