“TOTE” HOUSE BURNT
WAIPUKURAU CLUB RACES TRANSFERRED FIXTURE AT HASTINGS (Per Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, this day. Fire completely destroyed the totalisator house of the Waipukuvau Jockey Club at 1.15 o’clock on Sunday morning. The whole building and contents were gutted within half an hour. When the alarm was given the flames had a good hold and it was impossible for the fire brigade to effect a save. The origin of the fire is unknown. The police are making investigations. The club is very unfortunate, as all arrangements had been completed for the summer meeting to be held on Boxing Day, However, the officials were successful in arranging for the transfer of the meeting to Hastings, and the programme will be held in that centre on Tuesday.
