BRIDGE COLLAPSES

STRUCK BY BARGE 13 PEOPLE MISSING (Reed. Dec. 23, 1.30 p.m.) PARIS, Dec. 22. The bridge of St. Louis, linking St. Louis and islands in the River Seine, collapsed and a number of cars and pedestrians were plunged into the river. The bridge disappeared. Seven persons were recovered from the river, but two later succumbed. Thirteen people are missing.

The collapse was clue to the impact of the steel barge Tunisie, the captain of which was seriously injured. Two broken gas pipes caused an explosion.
