POISED FOR PUSH NEUTRAL BORDERS BELGIUM—HOLLAND LUXEMBOURG LINE CONFIDENCE IN PARIS GERMAN CHANCES SMALL (F.lee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Dec. 23, 11.30 a.m.) PARIS, Dec. 21. The French War Office spokesman said to-day: “The Germans are poised for an attack on the Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourg frontiers similar to last November. The forces will probably move within 48 hours of receiving marching orders.” The spokesman added that the chances of success were more remote. It was a case for the Allies of being forewarned and forearmed. The Siegfried Line is undergoing extension eastwards along the Rhine as far as Lake Constance. An official statement issued in Brussels says that Belgian fighters and anti-aircraft units drove off German planes at various points. One German plane opened fire as he fled northwards. The Belgian Government has protested to Germany. The official French communique issued in Paris this morning stated: “There is nothing of importance to report on the front.”
