SUICIDE’S FUNERAL

GRAF SPEE CAPTAIN BIG CROWD ASSEMBLES (Reed. Dec. 23, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 22. Messages from Buenos Aires relating to the funeral yesterday of the commander of the Graf von Spee, Captain Langsdorff, who committed suicide after having scuttled his' ship, state that 10,000 people massed near the cemetery gates, from where three officers and five men carried the coffin containing the commander’s body. The ship’s band played a dirge and a Lutheran pastor conducted the service. The German Ambassador. Herr von Thermann, dressed as a Nazi, spoke, after which German residents and the officers and crew of the ship saluted and sang “I Had a Comrade.”
