THEFT OF LETTERS MONEY SPENT ON DRINK (Per Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. Fowin Clifford Shea, a'married man, a postman, was sentenced to three months’ hard labour in the Police Court yesterday on each of 12 charges of stealing letters containing money of a total value of £l9 10s.

The offences range over several months. The money was spent on drink in sly-grog shops. The sentences are to be concurrent.
