REPORT TO GERMANY

SCANT NOTICE GIVEN (Reed, Dec. 22, 11 a.m.) BERLIN, Dec. 21. Only one newspaper, the Deutsene Allgemeine Zeitung reveals Captain Langsdorff’s suicide, and gives a brief notice without comment on the front page. The German Naval High Command, in a communique, states that the navy understands and esteems Captain Langsdorff’s act. As a fighter, he did what the Fuehrer and the German people and navy expected. He was faithful to an ancient tradition and followed his ship.
