BRITISH WAR ORDERS

£2,250,000 WORTH DAILY IMMENSE CONTRACTS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 2.40 p.m. RUGBY, Dec. 20. The Minister of Supply, Dr. L. Burgin, in a speech to-day, said that between September 3 and December 12, the Ministry of Supply had placed orders amounting to £255,000,000. This worked out at £2.250,000 a day. The amount included £70,000,000 worth of material for textile and leather goods, £50,000,000 guns, small arms and ammunition, £45,000,000 on transport vehicles, £12,000,000 on machine tools, £12,000,000 on medical and scientific instruments, £10,000,000 on stores and £21,000,000 on assisted schemes of production.
